About Aqualyra
'Lyra is the alter ego of Dianne Murray - singer-songwriter, radio producer, music producer, bassist, and member of SAC. She plays some other instruments but is damned rusty at most of them now. they include viola, French horn, steel drums and recorder.
It's been a long strange journey and it isn't easy having had this dark gypsy life (art and learning punctuated with death, family dysfunction, and breakdowns). Trying to explain it is even worse!
Music and radio are my first memory - and always my friends, but when you get sick sometimes you forget who you are! Language and science and nature are my other long-term loves; been enchanted with them since early childhood but it took 'till my tweens for me to catch the theatre arts production and writing bug.
Vocals are what I've been doing longest (since I was 2), followed by writing & production and poetry.
I have been a radio producer, director and scriptwriter and host at CKCU since the early 90's, first saving their science and tech show LET X = X and retooling it to cover science, technology, and and environmental issues as well as sexing it up somewhat, so that listeners could see how exciting science, tech and the environment really are,
Since June of 2008 I have been producing a somewhat demented weekly music show, on CKCU-FM focusing mainly on metal, goth, and dark folk. It's called e.V.'s Underground.
Aqualyra is my current musical project. I came up with the name for personal reasons back in 1986. Please go look at the Aqualyra Myspace or Reverbnation pages for my fanciful and oblique synopsis of who I am, what I write, & where I've been.
You can also see my musical company at www.victorianunderground.com - websites, PR and promo mostly with some subpublishing for a very gifted friend in Finland as well as publishing my own tunes.
In 2012, I completed backing vocals for a European artist's upcoming album, on which I am the co-producer, The album will released on an indie label sometime in 2013. December 10th is the release date. I am on most, but not all of the tracks.
